Biography
Ethan Lynn Amsbaugh, 22, was the son of two paramedics. Ethan grew up in the station. His parents, working different shifts, would pass off the pager and ambulance keys and the other would pass off Ethan and his siblings. Ethan became heavily interested in the Emergency Medical Services at the age of 16. He did his first 'ride-along' with his father at West Shore Emergency Medical Services, Inc. in November 2006.<br /> <br /> He was active in scouting and a 2009 graduate of Boiling Springs High School. He attended the Franklin County Fire Academy and was a newly inducted member to Mt. Union Fire Department. He was a member of the Citizens Fire Company of Mt. Holly Springs, and the Friendship Hose Company of Newville, and also Upper Frankford Township Fire Department. Ethan was employed by Priority Response Ambulance as a first responder. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle.<br /> Ethan loved to help people any way he could and lived to serve others. His co-workers say he was playful and spirited and would do any thing you asked him to do. "Anytime there was something that needed done, even if it was scrubbing the toilets, Ethan was the man who would step up to the plate and get the job done." He never said "NO" to anything that needed done. Ethan always gave 100% of himself in completing a task.<br /> Just after midnight on June 2, 2012, Mount Union Ambulance was dispatched for a long distance transport. Ethan responded to drive for the call. Upon completion of the first call, a second transport request came in. After the second transport, Ethan felt too tired to continue driving and switched places with his partner. While returning from the transport the ambulance left the roadway and struck a large road sign causing the unit to overturn. Ethan was fatally injured as a result of the accident. Even after his death, he continued to help others through tissue, bone, and eye donations later that day.<br /> Honored 2013
