Biography
Her passion and dedication to help others was endless. She received many awards in testament to her dedication in the six years she volunteered for the Richfield Township Fire Department, including Volunteer of the Year. She also served as the department's Vice President. A member of the department said, "She had the ability to speak to anyone and was incredibly sharp at adapting to all emergency situations." As well as her love for volunteering, Charlie loved children. She was a well-respected sixth grade teacher and a coach of CYO volleyball. Many knew her as a mother, and her home was always open and welcoming. On many occasions, she was known to leave her class to respond on emergency calls. During the summer months, Charlie worked part time for Fulton County EMS. Charlie enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her husband and two daughters, although her husband remembers her leaving at all times of the day and night to respond to alarms. She had even left Thanksgiving dinner cooking to respond to an alarm. On the morning of October 28, 2011 Charlie was on her way to work when she came upon a motor vehicle accident. As she exited her car and assessed the situation, Charolette called 911 from her cell phone and requested assistance for traffic control. She donned a reflective vest and started to direct traffic around the accident site to prevent any further accidents or injuries. A few moments later, an oncoming vehicle struck her. Charolette was airlifted to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo where she died of her injuries. She was 45 years old. Honored 2012
