On a cold night in March 2010, Bensalem Township lost one of its own. Daniel McIntosh, or "Danny Mac" as he was known by his friends throughout the Bucks County region, was as big as a lineman. He had a calm and quiet demeanor about him. Danny was a "go-to guy" who would be there to help in any situation.

Dan would handle any emergency with the same level of care and professionalism, no matter how minor or major the situation. Like so many others involved in the emergency services, he dedicated his life to helping others. He served his community since he was a teenager. Dan served as a career paramedic, part-time police officer, and volunteer firefighter. His favorite assignment was functioning as a tactical medic on one of three county SWAT teams, as well as the county's Weapons of Mass Destruction Response Team.

Although a man of little emotion, Dan was a loving husband and father who was thrilled to have two beautiful daughters. He loved telling stories about his family, and his children were his heart and soul. Dan's wit was dry, but never ending. He could lighten up any situation that was faced and provide lots of laughs during much-needed down time. Dan loved his chosen profession, always challenging himself to do more and to help whenever a situation arose which required his assistance.

On the night of March 7, 2010, Dan was working an extra shift during the night work tour. He and his partner responded to a report of a suicidal subject. Upon making contact with the mentally anguished individual, the subject fled the area. Believing that the patient was a threat to himself and others, Dan chased after him. While pursuing the subject, Dan fell to the ground, sustaining trauma to his head as the result of a heart attack.
Dan is greatly missed by his family, as well as the countless number of friends and persons he has helped throughout his career.
