Biography
"He was a dedicated and caring individual; he made the ultimate sacrifice," stated San Luis Obispo Sheriff, Pat Hodges. The SAR member was working search and rescue under the direction of the Sheriff's Department which is a volunteer program. He worked to help those in need, and the day he was killed he was responding to a person with a broken leg. Christopher's face book page states, "A place to remember a man no one will ever forget." "Chris had a winning smile and a personality to go along with it," stated a friend. "He wanted to go as far as he could reach in the field of EMS; he simply loved all aspects of it." "We are grateful to have had a son like Christopher," stated father Charles Meadows. He was a wonderful son and a wonderful person, and we miss him so very much.<br /> <br /> Christopher Meadows, 24, of Sunnyvale, California, was killed in the line of duty on May 24, 2009. He was part of a search and rescue team working at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreational area located in San Luis Obispo County. He was responding to an accident at the state park and had descended a dune when his all terrain vehicle flipped, landing directly on top of the rescuer.<br /> <br /> Meadows was a full-time employee of San Luis Obispo SAR/San Luis Ambulance in Sunnyvale, California. He had completed his search and rescue training a week before the accident. He was also in line to be promoted to medical team leader. Chris was applying to the paramedic program to fulfill his next goal in the field of Emergency Medical Service.<br /> <br /> Honored 2010
