Biography
James Bradshaw's nickname "Browski" moved with him when he left the Hawaiian Islands, it seemed a name that fit the young pilot. James was such a fun-loving guy who had a "heart of gold." His sister, Caralee Hill, who lives in Maryland, stated that each time she spoke with her brother he would reiterate how much he loved his job flying with Mountain Lifeflight. She stated that he was proud to be part of a medical agency that made a difference in people's lives. Browski told me "the work was interesting and very rewarding." He was such a free spirit and never met a stranger, which most likely came from being the oldest of nine children. Friends stated that Bradshaw worked hard to become a pilot, he drove a cab and did roofing the whole time he was in school and training.

James Bradshaw, 39, of Reno, Nevada, was killed in the line of duty on November 20, 2009. He was the pilot of a Mountain Lifeflight medevac helicopter, part of a three-person medical team. The team was working a patient transport to the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada and was returning to its home base in Susanville, California. Pilot Bradshaw sent a mayday seconds before the helicopter crash in the dark hilly terrain 5 miles north of Reno, Nevada in a section called Hallelujah Junction. There were no survivors.

Bradshaw had recently completed an intensive 9-month course in aeronautics. James had previously worked in Hawaii as a tour guide, and was a Brigham Young College graduate, with a degree in Business Administration.

Honored 2010
