| "Ron was a typical small-town person who would help in any way," stated North Platte Fire Chief Chip Volcek. "You could always count on Ron to do his job when you needed him to. He was opinionated but respectful, and someone who loved a good joke. He loved to laugh, and would go a long way to get a good one. He was great at his job; he cared about people."Ronald Holmes, 43, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was killed in the line of duty on August 6, 2003. He was transporting a patient when a semi truck rear-ended the ambulance, forcing it into another tractor trailer.Homes had been employed with North Platte Fire Department as a firefighter and emergency medical technician for 18 years at the time of his death.Honored 2009 |
