Biography
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free...
Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low...
Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me but let me go...
For this journey that we all must take and each must go alone...
It's all part of the Master's Plan, a step on the road to home...
When we are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know,
and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds...Miss me but let me go...
Poem by Kristi Bishop, Sister-in-Law

"A hero is one who is recognized by their courage, admired for their leadership, embraced for their inner strength and respected for their nobility," said Danny Green of Covenant Family Church. Nothing truer could have been said about Jana.

Jana Bishop, 28, of Magnolia, Texas, was killed in the line of duty on June 8, 2008. She was part of a three-person medical team transporting a critically ill patient aboard an air ambulance that crashed in the dark skies of Sam Houston National Park, Texas. There were no survivors.

Jana attended UTMB Galveston's Nursing Program and had worked for Montgomery County Health District EMS. She was hired as a flight nurse with PHI Air Medical from its inception. Ms. Bishop was engaged to a firefighter and was to be married in two months. She traveled across the United States and China, loved scuba diving, skydiving, deep sea fishing and hiking in the mountains.

Honored 2009
