Rose loved to help people; that's the reason she volunteered. Her schedule was made in between babysitting her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and her volunteer time. "That was just how special this lady was, she had order to her life, and she brought order to many of ours," stated a crew member. "We did not mind accommodating Rose; she was the life of the party. She lit up the department whenever she was on duty, plus being a good volunteer.".
Rose Woodbridge, 56, of Oxford, Ohio, lost her life in the line of duty on July 28, 2007. Rose was en route to the Hanover Township Fire Department to retrieve their ambulance to respond to a two-car collision. She lost control of her car on a rain-slick highway, slamming it into a pole. Paramedic Mark Baden stated, "When the crew responded to the accident, it was really difficult to find that it was one of your own, and especially hard when you know there is nothing you can do," "We loved this woman, and our hearts were simply torn apart for days over losing her," stated a co-worker.
Mrs. Woodbridge was an emergency medical technician and a volunteer firefighter for Hanover Township Fire Department. Her husband, Ray, worked as a volunteer and Rose had been on board for three years. Rose had made a comment that it was fun volunteering with her husband and it gave something back to the community as well. The couple also volunteered for the Reily Township Fire Department.
Rose will be remembered as a person who loved every minute of her volunteer work, a lady that always had a smile on her face and one that will be sorely missed by the entire community.
