Biography
Over 200 loved ones and friends paddled into the open water forming a large circle and swinging leis into the water as the ashes of Peter were gently scattered into the sea. As they did, a helicopter dropped a flurry of rose petals that fell softly into the water. Another 300 friends watched from the shore, all bidding farewell to a special person who was known for saving and helping others. "There were many times that Peter got us out of bad weather and brought us back home safely. He always made you feel safe and comfortable," said Boogie Molina, flight paramedic of Hawaii Air Ambulance. "He is my hero." .

Peter A. Miller, 32, of Kailua, Hawaii, was killed in the line of duty on March 8, 2006, when the plane he was flying crashed into a BMW car lot on the Island of Maui and burst into flames. FAA suspected engine failure as the cause of the fatal accident that took the lives of the three-person medical team.

Pilot Miller flew for Hawaii Air Ambulance, located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He made a name for himself surfing; he had a successful amateur career, and competed professionally.

One of the achievements of Peter's life was the Kailua Kids. He was known to take the Kailua Kids under his wing, giving them his old surfboards and teaching them techniques. A special fund has been established in his honor, the "Peter Miller Surf Foundation for the Kids of Kailua.".

He was one of Kailua's heroes when he was alive, now that he is gone he will remain one forever.
