An Irish Proverb states, "Sing like nobody is listening, dance like nobody is watching, and live each day like it is your last." "That is the way Craig lived his life," stated his mother; "he left for work just like any other day, but this time he did not come back." This is the life all rescue workers understand; they take that risk each time they answer a call.
Craig Dorsey ll, 25, of MacArthur, West Virginia, was killed in a Line of Duty Death on January 30, 2007. Dorsey had responded to a reported odor of gas at the Ghent Little General Store which is a convenience store-gas station. The cause was later discovered to be a gas leak that caused a massive explosion, destroying the structure along with rescue apparatus and other vehicles. The explosion killed five people which included the young EMT/Firefighter.
Craig was a five-year emergency medical technician with the Ghent Area Fire Department, located in Ghent, West Virginia. "Everyone knew Craig, he made it easy to know him, he was one of the nicest people you would ever meet," said Captain John Hitchens, a former Ghent Fire Department worker. "He had a great personality and a strong sense of humor, playing practical jokes, no matter how bad the day was going," he stated.
Craig was engaged to be married and had a small son that mirrored his good looks. He is one of those people who will be missed for a long time. This statement was made many times about the emergency medical worker.
