Biography
Darcy was a person that lit up a room with her presence, and she was known for her laughter. She spent many hours working with Camp Francis, a camp for grieving children and was a medical educator for the Drug Endangered Program. She loved the challenge of being a flight nurse and was truly gifted in helping others.<br /> <br /> Darcy Lynn Dengel, 27, of Great Falls, Montana, was killed in a Line of Duty death on February 6, 2007. She was part of a three-person team on their way for a patient transport when the accident occurred. The plane slammed into the mountains near Boseman, Montana, caused by dark night meteorological conditions.<br /> <br /> Ms. Dengel was a flight nurse for Benefis Healthcare Mercy Flight, located in Great Falls, Montana. She was a graduate of MSU-Bozeman College of Nursing and had previously worked for Sidney Heath Center. For the past four years she worked in the Benefis emergency room, where she was involved in many aspects of their programs. In 2005, Darcy met her goal of becoming a flight nurse.<br /> <br /> "Darcy was engaged to be married, and was having so much fun planning her wedding that was to take place the upcoming October," stated a co-worker.<br /> <br /> The DD Nursing Scholarship honoring the flight nurse will assist students preparing a nursing degree in the State of Montana.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008
