There is no measure to the infinite goodness that went down into the icy cold waters of Prince William Sound in Alaska. The loss of Lance Brabham is felt by his friends all over the country. He was a great pilot and a better man. He was dedicated to his work, he felt it a calling and a much needed asset to help people in need.
Lance Brabham, 42, of Soldotna, Alaska, was killed in a helicopter crash on December 3, 2007. He was piloting the helicopter, part of a team of three, conducting a transport of a patient to Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. It is believed that Mr. Brabham encountered adverse weather conditions after failing to report in. Following an extensive seven-day search and finding only one victim, it is presumed Lance made the ultimate sacrifice on the flight.
Pilot Brabham was relatively new to Alaska; however he was well respected by those he had already come to know. He had flown for LifeGuard Alaska Helicopters since April of 2007. "He was an easy-going man, and was a good pilot that had gone through some nasty stuff and made really good calls while flying," stated a spokesperson for Evergreen Helicopters. He moved to Alaska and purchased a home without water or electricity, "he really enjoyed putting those utilities in that house, and was continuing to fix it up; he was engaged to be married," said, a co-worker.
