When Mr. Beeler was asked by his son to take an EMT class with him, George did not think twice. He was happy to serve his community, and to work alongside his son. "I heard they were having an emergency medical technician class, I told dad they needed people, and that it would be fun to take the class together," stated his son Eric. "He really liked it, he liked helping people, and it was fun when we worked together," he commented.<br />

George Beeler, 67, of Slater, Missouri, died in a Line of Duty Death on July 17, 2007. He was riding in the ambulance after finishing a medical call when he began experiencing chest pains. Life-saving measures were taken immediately, however, Mr. Beeler went into full cardiac arrest, and died before reaching the hospital.<br />

George was an emergency medical technician for Slater Ambulance District. In addition to working there, he worked at Howard County Ambulance Service. He was a long-time volunteer for the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Service.<br />

"George was a kicked-back guy, he just went along with the flow," said co-worker David Taylor. "He was a really nice guy," he stated.<br />

In honor of his fire service, the Glasgow Fire Department retired his designated radio number - 218.<br />
