Biography
To become a flight nurse means dedication. This elite group must be able to work under the worst of conditions and work well with others. Their jobs are in the skies, and are part of a team that rush to save the very ill and the critically injured.Lori A. Schrempp, 41, lost her life in an aero medical crash on June 21, 2002. She was part of a medical team that was en route from a Norfolk hospital to airlift an injured child. The helicopter in which she was riding developed trouble about three miles into flight. While attempting an emergency landing at the Karl Stefan Memorial Airport the helicopter went into a spin, falling to the ground, killing all aboard.Ms. Schrempp of Yankton, South Dakota, had been an employee with LifeNet of the Heartland for two and a half years. She was a nurse in the Yankton area for 22 years. She was a coach for the Yankton Youth Soccer and a supporter of youth wrestling. Lori enjoyed the outdoors ? boating, camping and gardening. She loved walking her dog, Nike, around Memorial Park."She was a great nurse," said Lee McCammon, program director for LifeNet of the Heartland. "There was just none better."Honored 2006
