Biography
"Rouchon was born to serve people; he certainly earned his angel wings. He was a big guy, a loving guy, he cared for everyone," stated Fire Chief Allen McNabb. "He heard the call and he did not hesitate, he jumped into his truck and was gone," stated Ben's aunt.

Benjamin C. Rouchon, 25, lost his life on December 21, 2003. He was responding to a medical call when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed. When the call for help came, Ben always responded; however, on this call his team members rushed to the scene to find one of their own. Benjamin had gone from responder to victim. "This is hard to deal with, it's a very sad time for our team," stated Dan Lennie, Vice-President of Acadian Ambulance Operation Services. "It's a tragic loss, it's hit us hard; he was a very good team member."

Rouchon was halfway through his paramedic training and was a veteran emergency worker who had responded to many accidents in his two and one-half years as an Emergency Medical Technician. He not only worked as an EMT with Acadian Ambulance but also was a firefighter with the Bluff Creek Fire Protection Territory and a reserve police officer with the Clinton Police Department.

"He was one that truly had a calling to help others. He was always ready and willing to assist anyone in the need of help," stated a team member. "He will be missed and his work will be missed."

Honored 2005
