Nadar actually means rare and unique, but he was such a wonderful young man his name was redefined: loving, kind, generous are better words to describe Nadar. He will always be remembered as an angel.
Nadar Ali Hammett, 29, was killed in the line of duty on December 1, 2003. He was driving home from his department-mandated paramedic training class when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle left the scene of the accident, only to return a while later to report the accident and summon help. Nadar's car was knocked off the roadway, rolled over, and hit a tree. He died of internal trauma.
Nadar joined the Prince George's County Fire Department in 2000. He loved his job very much. He served three years with Prince George's County Fire Department as an EMT/Firefighter. He had planned to become a paramedic. He attended paramedic school at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., expecting to graduate in January 2004.
