Tagging along from the age of 10 with firemen, Shane successfully passed his civil service and became a full-pledged paid firefighter on completion of high school. His love and kindness for his fellow man led him into another line of rescue, the profession of Emergency Medical Services. He trained, and received certification as a paramedic and was studying for instructor status. He found true happiness with his love of job and his love of people.<br />

Shane S. Brown, 25, lost his life in the line of duty on December 24, 2003. He was on a medical call of a lady down with respiratory distress in Mansfield, Louisiana. Driving to the site he crossed railroad tracks and was hit by an oncoming train, causing multi-explosions, throwing the rescue vehicle over 60 feet. It landed in a fiery heap. Mr. Brown was non-responsive at the site of the crash.<br />

Paramedic Brown worked as an EMT-Paramedic for DeSoto Parish Fire District #8. He worked part-time for DeSoto Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic. On his days off, he worked for the hospital and dispatched 911 calls when extra help was needed.<br />

"Shane was the most dedicated rescue person I have ever met," stated his Captain. He was the happiest when he was helping mankind. He was such a special person, truly all he wanted to do in life was make the human race free of pain so they could live life; that made Shane a contented individual," he stated.<br />
