Biography
Billie always had a smile and knew her job well. When asked what she liked most about her job, she stated, "Being the one to actually make a difference." She was one paramedic who demonstrated her worth with her skills every day.<br /> <br /> Billie Cobb, 33, of Gerald, Missouri lost her life on June 15, 2003. Ms. Cobb was responding to a call from headquarters for a second crew. On her way to the station, she was involved in a head-on collision. She was airlifted from the scene by helicopter; however succumb to her injuries later that day.<br /> <br /> Ms. Cobb was a paramedic for Gerald Area Ambulance District in Missouri. Previously, Cobb was a paramedic for nine years with Abbott Ambulance in St. Louis, where she served as operations supervisor. Abbott's director of human resources Roby Walker stated, "Billie was one of the few paramedics who would dare to perform the most difficult EMS procedures in the field." She received multiple ?Clinical Save Awards' while at Abbott Ambulance in St Louis. Before that, she had started her career in EMS with North Crawford County Ambulance in Cuba, Missouri. A single mother of three, Billie started working part-time at GAAD to be closer to her home. Billie attended veterinary classes at the University of Missouri, and worked part-time at an animal clinic.<br /> <br /> "She had a wonderful way with patients that I have yet to see matched," says Mark Flauter, her former partner at Abbott.<br /> <br /> Honored 2004
