Robert Shawn Ervin, 43, was killed while setting flares out to alert drivers of an accident that had occurred on an icy slick Highway 97 in Oregon. Mr. Ervin had crossed the highway to set the flares when a semi-trailor truck topped the hill. The driver, seeing the accident, applied his brakes and then went into a skid on the ice. The truck jackknifed and hit the ambulance causing it to go sideways and flip, then rolled. Mr. Ervin could not escape the path of the uncontrollable vehicle and was hit when the truck rolled over.<br />
