It is a despicable loss when one so young and so ready to serve humanity is cut down by the hands of another. One who does not have the same value for human life. Dave Catt, Safety Officer Captain at the Jefferson Township Fire Department, stated Bradley Maxwell was "A fine person. He was one of our best? He was there for all of us, and we were there for him. He helped at working for people all his life." This should not happen to one so fine.
Bradley S. Maxwell, 22, was murdered in a double homicide while on duty the night of April 18, 2001. He and his partner were shot to death while innocently performing their jobs as emergency medical technicians.

Mr. Maxwell was an advanced EMT for Pike County Emergency Medical Service and also worked part-time for Memorial Hospital EMT Service. He was an active member of Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department/Rescue Squad 58. Brad served as a maintenance officer for both departments and had taken a primary instructor course and was soon to be certified.
"He was a great, great EMT, he was very concerned about his patients and always willing to lend a hand to help other EMT's," Susan Henke said.
