When a good young person, one who knew his calling early on, is taken in an accident, you just can't help but stop and wonder why he was called home so young. Maybe he had been an angel flying too close to the ground.<br />

David Womer, 24, was killed October 23, 1997 in an explosion that ripped through the Mt. Carmel Area Rescue Squad building. Someone releasing propane gas into the building, which was ignited by a flame from a gas hot water heater, caused the explosion. There were seven other members present at the time of the explosion. David was in a back office performing building duty. The cause of death was smoke inhalation.<br />

Mr. Womer was an emergency medical technician for the Mount Carmel Rescue Squad. It is the location of the rescue squad headquarters in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. David had run two hundred and thirty-nine calls from January 1997 until October 23, 1997. He was Captain of Strong Fire Company in Strong, Pennsylvania.<br />

His mother, Linda Womer Nagy and stepfather Mike, a sister, Amie Jo Freed, and brother, Paul Womer, survive David A Womer.<br />
