"Let them be known by their works." If this is a true statement, then Kathy was indeed a great person who spent her life in service to others.

Katherine Ohran, 36, was aboard a Care Flight helicopter that fell from the sky over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, taking the lives of those aboard. The aircraft had been summoned to a small hospital in Bridgeport, California to transport a seriously injured patient of an automobile accident. The fallen aircraft was found by the Mono County Search and Rescue. The cause of the crash way disclosed as a hangar bearing failure.

Ms. Ohran had been employed by REMSA/Care Flight as a Flight Nurse since April of 1989. Prior to joining Care Flight, Kathy had worked with Trauma Services at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. She had ten years of critical care nursing experience in the Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, Emergency Room, and the Cardiac Surgical Unit. Kathy participated in the education and training of pre-hospital personnel who worked with the Care Flight program up to the time of her death.
