Flight nurses know the dangers each time they climb inside a helicopter. They are an exceptionally caring breed, and they must love adventure. They step into the skies to put those forces together in order to save lives.<br />

A Care Flight air ambulance plane from Reno slammed into the Eastern Sierra's Bridgeport Reservoir killing flight nurse Linda Montgomery on June 21,1987. She was aboard the ambulance plane en route to retrieve a patient for transport when the accident occurred. Linda's body was found in twenty-five feet of water. She and the pilot both died of blunt trauma.<br />

Linda, 38, had worked in the emergency room of Saint Mary's Hospital in Reno, Nevada. Ms. Montgomery had been with REMSA/Care Flight for two years. Previous to working with Care Flight she had worked many years in the Intensive Care Unit at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She participated in the education and training of pre-hospital personnel who worked with the Care Flight program. Linda was a true professional who was admired by her team members. A memorial fund was established in memory of Linda.<br />

Her mother, Miriam Montgomery, survives Linda.<br />
