Debora Scott, an EMT with Borden Chemical, and a student at Our Lady of the Lake College under the Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Program, died on November 14, 1999, from injuries she received in a violent ambulance crash the previous day.
Scott and another paramedic student were riding in the back of an ambulance to observe the two-person crew as part of their training. Both were ejected from the ambulance by the force of the wreck. The ambulance with red lights and sirens on was responding to a code 3 (serious) call, when a car ran a red light and collided with the rescue unit.
