"Carl Hensley was very dedicated to all squad training sessions, and would not have missed one for any reason," said Chief Paula Lineberry.
On March 16, 1991, during a training session on Mountain Rescue, Carl Hensley suffered cardiac arrest, and died. "He was an active squad member and did more than his share of work. He would pull his duty and take the place of someone who could not come in for their shift," said Lineberry.
Mr. Hensley was captain, and a charter member of High Point Rescue Squad, now called Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue in High Point, North Carolina. He had been retired from Western Electric, where he had worked for 32 years, and was at the time of his death employed with Guilford County Emergency Medical Services.
