Randolph McCoy was a charter member of the Long Shop-McCoy Squad and volunteered with them until his death on a call to help another. He was an emergency medical technician and served his squad as chaplain.
Randolph and Elizabeth were the parents of a son and daughter, R. D. and Carolyn, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Centennial Christian Church where he served as an elder and superintendent of Sunday School, a member of Hunter's Lodge AF & AM, Odd Fellows, and Loyal Order of Moose.
Outdoor activities were his favorite hobbies, and he especially loved fishing. Randolph retired from Hercules, Inc. Maintenance Department after thirty-five years of service--eight of those years without missing a day!
On February 7, 1978, Randolph had a stroke while driving the squad truck responding to a call. After he collapsed over the steering wheel, the truck was controlled by a fellow crew member. He was transported to Montgomery Regional Hospital where he died on February 15, at the age of 72.
