Biography
The headlines of the Rutland Daily Herald announced Crash Kills Girl; Paramedic Loses Life.

A 15-year old girl was killed and two friends were seriously injured in an accident as the pickup truck the teenagers were traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a tree.

Paramedic Floyd "Bud" Langon, Jr., 63, was pronounced dead at the hospital after collapsing at the accident scene from a heart attack while treating one of the teenagers.

Fellow rescue workers at the scene treated "Bud" and brought him to the Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead 15 minutes after arriving. Langon was a pharmacist at the Medical Center and worked part-time for the Regional Ambulance Service for about four years.

In addition, he served as the training coordinator and a charter member of the RAS Castleton First Responders and volunteered with the Poultney rescue squad. A graduate of Temple University and a veteran of the Korean War, Langon is survived by his wife, Catherine, three daughters, a son, 3 step-children, and 14 grandchildren.

Bud was loved and very active in emergency medical services. He enjoyed his life outside the rescue service and is deeply missed by his family and fellow workers.

Honored 1996
