There seemed to be one word to sum up Joe's life: "action." "Joe was the extension of an emergency physician, working as the ears, eyes and hands in the field," stated Larry Cattano. "He would dive head-first into emergency responses, despite the stress and trauma to many calls," stated Cattano. "It was something in his bones; he knew the safest, fastest way to save a life was action.".<br />

Joseph E. Murawski, 52, of South Amboy, New Jersey, lost his life in the line of duty on June 17, 2007. After finishing the scene of an accident, Mr. Murawski began experiencing chest pains, later going into full cardiac arrest. All attempts were made to save Joe, he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University where he was pronounced deceased.<br />

Mr. Murawski was a full-time paramedic for Raritan Bay Medical Center MICU. He was a former assistant director of Raritan Bay Medical Mobile Intensive Care Unit. Joe volunteered at the Perth Amboy Fire Department, and at the Keasbey Fire Department. He was a four-time president there, and taught classes on advanced cardiac life support, pediatric life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.<br />

"Joe took a negative and always made it a positive," stated his wife, Deborah. "He loved his work in rescue and knew he made a difference," Deborah said.<br />
