Biography
One must love people, must love his work, and must love to fly to become a flight nurse. Most of these well-trained medical workers realize early in their career that this is the job for them. They know the danger involved when they sign on with an agency. Critical care calls for the best, the quickest, and that is often found in the sky.

David B. Linner ll, 36, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, was killed in the line of duty on January 11, 2005. He was a member of a medical aviation team involved in the transport of a patient from Carbon County to Wyoming Medical Center. The plane crashed, sliding about 300 yards before stopping in the rough, snow covered prairie. Three of the four medical staff aboard perished in the accident.

Mr. Linner was a flight nurse for Yampa Valley Medical Center. He was Director of the agency since 2001. "He was a leader, a good flight nurse who knew what he was doing," stated an agency member. "All of us at Yampa Valley Medical Center are deeply saddened and shocked at this tragic loss," said Karl Gills, CEO of the medical agency.

"All of those aboard are committed to providing extraordinary care to the sick and injured patients. Our entire organization and those who worked with the air ambulance program have been impacted."

Honored 2006
