Nick Roetnor was a pilot flying to Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City, Iowa. He was to pick up and transport a cardiac patient to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was killed when his helicopter dropped over 100 feet to the ground while attempting a landing at Hamilton County Hospital on March 3, 1980. The helicopter, which had flown to Webster City, Iowa, had aboard a flight nurse and a flight nurse trainee. There were no survivors.<br />

Roetnor was en route to transport a cardiac patient to Methodist Medical Center. The helicopter was owned by Rocky Mountain Helicopters of Provo, Utah. The aircraft was thought to have stalled while landing.<br />

Two daughters, Michele and Melissa; his father, Mike Roetnor; his brother, Jeff Roetnor; and his widow, Sheryl Roetnor Moss, survive Nick Roetnor, 29.<br />
