After responding to multiple emergency calls during a 24-hour shift, Battalion Chief/Paramedic Guiler was dispatched on yet another emergency call. When he failed to reach his unit to respond, other personnel went to check on him. They found him sitting up in his bed deceased from an apparent heart attack. He was unaware that he was ill, but he tested positive for COVID-19 after his death. It is believed that he contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty. |
