Biography
Parker William Summons attended Catalina High School and, later, Prima Community College. As a nursing student at Prima, he had already decided he wanted to be a flight nurse. Once he got into nursing, he found himself. And, when he got his degree, he wasn't content to just work in a ward. He wanted to be where the critical situations were. Being a flight nurse was his dream job. "He would have ridden that helicopter until he was 65. He enjoyed helping people and being there and caring for them."His loyalty to his profession was superseded only by his love for his friends and family. He adored his son. He would just stare at him. And he would hug him and hold him. He shared that same kind of love with his fiance, Tiffany, and her daughters. Together they made a good family. His playful attitude and positive outlook on life touched all who knew him. Parker could make you smile or laugh when you didn't think you had it in you. He always had a smile and would do anything to help a friend. In the early afternoon of July 28, 2010, the helicopter, known as LifeNet 12, was traveling from Marana to Douglas at the time of the crash. It had been at the company's base located at Marana Regional Airport for routine maintenance and was in the process of being returned to its home base. A witness told local Tucson media that he heard a popping sound before the aircraft's engines went silent. He then saw the helicopter spin a few times before it crashed into a wall and burst into flames. Flight nurse Parker Summons, 41 was transported from the scene and later succumbed to his injuries.Honored 2011
