Biography
"Marshall had a love for his job as a pilot and as a deputy sheriff," Assistant Sheriff Marshall stated. "This man never wavered in any assignment; he had a can-do attitude." Marshall was known for his dedication to his job and his family.

Marshall Butler, 46, of Pahrump, Nevada, was killed in the line of duty on September 7, 2002 when the medical helicopter he was piloting crashed in California en route to a car accident in a desolate mountain pass. The Pahrump Medical Helicopter was operated by Mercy Air Ambulance of Fontana, California.

They were angels of mercy so the helicopter was nicknamed "Mercy." Marshall has flown medical helicopters for quite a while and "he is very competent and very efficient," stated Nye County Sheriff Wade Lieseke. "He was a good officer, a highly experienced pilot and a family man devoted to his wife and children. He was just a great guy, very outgoing and he will be missed."

Honored 2009
