Biography
Maureen was known for her diligence, professionalism and was conscious of safety in all areas, and had concern for others. Looking up at planes above, she dreamed of flying when she was a little girl. A dream she put off until she had finished college, married, and had a son. She loved what she did, and she enjoyed the fact that she could combine her love of flying with helping people.<br /> <br /> Maureen Mary McGee, 47, Morgantown, West Virginia, was killed in the line of duty on December 26, 2006. She was piloting the plane with a medical nurse aboard readying for a patient transport to Teterboro, New Jersey. McGee radioed the air traffic controller that she was experiencing ice on the plane. She was instructed to make an emergency landing in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and the airplane crashed on approach.<br /> <br /> McGee was a one-year employee with Flightsouce LLC of Morgantown, West Virginia. She had previously lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and moved to West Virginia for the job with Flightsouce. She was certified to fly and train pilots. She took flying very seriously.<br /> <br /> Maureen was an avid bicyclist, hiker, and canoeist. She was an active member in church. She loved flying and put it to use helping others. Shortly before her death she had flown a special flight. On a mission of mercy, McGee flew a pregnant woman to a distant hospital where she could receive special care. The mother to be had not had successful deliveries in past pregnancies, but was able to deliver a healthy girl the next day, which was Thanksgiving. The parents named the child Cessna, after the plane that Maureen flew.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008
