Biography
You always knew when Joe was around, the smell of his cigar and then here he came in with his signature hat. Two things you could always count on with Joe, his cigar and his hat. He was at the top of his game when it came to rescue. There was none better than Joe, and he loved what he did - helping people.<br /> <br /> Joe A. Jones, 72, died in the line of duty on February 12, 2007. He died of a massive heart attack while answering a call. All attempts to save Joe were futile. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.<br /> <br /> Joe was a 40-year veteran with the Pilot Mountain Rescue & EMS located in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. He was a person everyone could count on, and everyone loved him. He was like family and they all worked together closely. His youngest daughter now serves with the department, a job he taught her to know and love.<br /> <br /> Joe loved the outdoors, he was an avid gardener, and in his younger years would pack up and go camping on a pretty weekend.<br /> <br /> Honored 2008
