He loved the opportunity to work with children; he loved to see their eyes light up as they climbed into the helicopter to look around and learn about the job he did. He thought of it as a lesson in education, as well as a fun way of learning. He had as much fun as the kids did, and looked forward to their visits to the helipad.<br />

Micky L. Price, 46, of Dumas, Texas, died in the line of duty on March 21, 2004. He was the pilot of a helicopter that was involved in a medical transport of a four-month-old baby from Mexico. The CareStar Flight Crew was en route to University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. All contact was lost. During a conversation with the ground crew, an interruption of "hold on a minute" came through. Search parties found the crash site with a surviving flight nurse. The baby, mother, paramedic and pilot had been killed. It was early morning; there had been strong thunderstorms in the area. The location was sparsely populated in the area of Southern Ward Road, near Peyote, Texas.<br />

Mr. Price was a high time pilot with both fixed wing and rotor wing commercial pilot ratings. He had been with CareStar Air Ambulance Service since early 2003. "Micky loved his job, he looked forward to coming on duty, and he loved the thought of helping people," stated a co-worker.<br />
