Katherine Malone, 30, of Shawnee, Kansas, died from a close-range gunshot wound on April 3, 2004. She and her partner were on duty and had just returned from a medical call when they were both gunned down. Paramedic Malone had worked for Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust for seven years. She had been through such a rough patch, and was happy to get her paramedic certificate. "Kathy will be greatly missed; she was a real professional," stated friends.<br />
