Mr. Quinn rushed to Manhattan without hesitation as soon as he heard what had happened. He knew how large the two buildings were, the many persons they housed throughout the day. He knew his medical skills were needed, and he responded right away. Upon arrival, he located a paramedic team and immediately started patient care. Ricardo was at the World Trade Center doing what he was known best for, helping others. He was trying to save another as the building fell, melting around him. He, like so many others that day, responded to the largest disaster in American history, and is now being hailed a hero. However, Ricardo was a hero long before September 11, 2001.Ricardo Quinn, 40, was a skilled paramedic with the Fire Department of the New York Bureau of EMS in New York City. He took part in the training of incoming paramedics, and was attending St. John's University to become a physician's Assistant. He received the prestigious "Lt. Kirby McElhearn Award" for saving the life of a physician who was in cardiac arrest.Ricardo was a family man, very dedicated to his three children, Nicholas, Adam, and Kevin. He absolutely adored his wife, Ginny, and gave her all the credit for his good deeds. She supported his work as a paramedic, and never minded his change from a 9 to 5 job to that of a paramedic. "When he put on his uniform, he wore it proudly, and took his job very seriously," stated Ginny. Ricardo was an accomplished artist. He loved to go to the beach and sketch all day long. He loved music, all types of music, as long as it was loud.Honored 2002 |
