From the time Leslie was two years old, cut her own hair and called herself "Ya Ya," it was clear this was a person who had very definite ideas about her life. Five years ago one of her dreams came true, to be a flight nurse.

She worked in burn units throughout the country including Hawaii, South Carolina, Seattle and San Diego before going to Denver and joining the AirLife team 4 years ago. She was an ACLS instructor and active in education in the emergency medical services community.

Though she was not scheduled to work, Leslie volunteered to take a flight out to help save an accident victim on December 14, 1997. It was her last as the helicopter carrying a driver critically injured in a head-on collision struck electrical wires and crashed. Leslie, the pilot Pete Abplanalp, flight nurse Beth Barber, and the patient were killed.

While working for AirLife in Denver, Leslie met a pilot named Chris Spanos. They were to become engaged at Christmas. Leslie is survived by her parents, Bob and Shirley Feldmann, of Skaneateles, New York.
